A South Moluccas, or even Republik Maluku Selatan (RMS), was the self-proclaimed republic in the Maluku Islands, founded April 25, 1950. Once a portion of the Dutch East Indies, a colony of the Netherlands, a state declared independence from either the United States of Indonesia as a response to the intent of the Javanese general Sukarno to consolidate the projected United States of Indonesia under the control of a one government. A Moluccans required that a one state would exist as dominated per Javanese, and particularly a Javanese leader Sukarno.

A territory was reintegrated into Indonesia around November 1950. An occupation by Indonesian troops lasting many years resulted around the flight of a RMS government from either the islands, & the formation of a government in exile in the Netherlands. A president around exile was Prof. Manusama. The food and drug administration-inside-exile continues to survive.

A South Moluccas consists of astir 150 islands in the Banda Sea. A independent islands come Ceram, Ambon and Buru. A population of the South Moluccas come chiefly Melanesians, numbering about of these million. A South Moluccan humans come preponderantly Christian, unlike the rest of Indonesia which is overpoweringly Muslim.
